Last week I attended a horticulture and design seminar presented by
The Garden Conservancy and The Ruth Bancroft Garden. Entitled 'Make Room for Succulents in Your Garden' it was a day packed with information, plants, gardens, plants and more plants!
During lunch we paid a quick visit to the Ruth Bancroft Garden, and even though it was high noon and 90 degrees, I managed to get some nice shots. This is a garden to be experience in several seasons, so I will definitely be back! I don't know all of the names, so will just hush up now and let you see what I saw. Enjoy! (Click any photo to enlarge).
Scrolling through it was fun to see how you started with bold colors, then went into yellows and textures, then back to bold. Your photos are always fun to see.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, I TOTALLY planned it that way Kari! Actually, as many of my posts are, this is simply the order in which the pictures were taken...glad you enjoyed it (you color-lover you!)
ReplyDeleteStunning. One forgets that succulants have so much to offer. I love the barrel cactus "family", as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteSome great photos here. Hope you had agood time at the seminar.
I’ve written an article titled ‘Poisonous plants found near you’ which I thought you might be interested in:

If you know of any poisonous plants that we haven’t listed here then we’d love to hear back form you.
All the best

WOW! what a fantastic feast for the senses. That CA poppy is so gorgeous and they grow up to around 8 feet tall. I love them and they are all over right now. Succulents and cacti are always a favorite of mine and you captured them so well. I really enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteHey Laura,
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see you in Buffa10...and I won't be at GWA this year.
I just wanted you to know I added your blog to the soon to be launched North Carolina Nursery and Landscape Association blog roll for NC Blogs!
http://www.tarheelgardening.com/wordpress/
I also wanted to make sure you received my new link for Gardening With Confidence's blog
www.gardeningwithconfidence.com/blog.
Thanks!
I hope you are doing well!
H.
Thanks everyone! Andrew, I'm not much of an expert on poisonous plants (if you haven't read Amy Stewart's book 'Wicked Plants' you might find a few more!)
ReplyDeleteHey Shutterbug, you mean the Matilija Poppy? Yes, those are spectacular! And they do get tall, this one was over my head!
Aw Helen, I'll miss you at GWA! No budget for Buffa10 also I'm afraid. Thanks for making me an honorary Tarheel! I've had your new link for GWC on my blogroll since you first announced, so no worries! Hope all is well at Helen's Haven...
Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI feel like I just ate the plant equivalent to a bag of Skittles! I love seeing the mixes of California, Australia, South African and beyond!
